Services include: tree & garden consulting & arborist reports, and referrals for tree removal & trimming and landscape architecture & design. Pesticide Application: Due to Toronto’s Pesticide Bylaws the pesticides available for use are restricted. Pesticides allowed include:

• Fungicides that are copper-sulphur based are allowed. However, like all fungicides they work best when used in the spring in anticipation of the coming outbreak.
• Horticultural / Dormant Oil can be used. It is most effective when used in the winter season. It kills over-wintering insects and their eggs - sometimes. It does not work so well in other seasons.
• Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is a bacterium that kills caterpillars. It is most effective against the younger instars. It only kills caterpillars, which is to say moth and butterfly larvae. It does not kill sawflies, beetle grubs, chafers or other non-lepidopteran insects.
• Biological Control Agents There are some other biological control agents that can be specially ordered. It is not wise to attempt a diagnosis via e-mail or telephone. An on-site visit would first be required.
• Insecticidal Soap only works for small jobs. It can knock down whiteflies and aphids, but is not very effective in reasonable doses.
